Summer Mosaic

Thank you to Mary at Little Red House for hosting this party every week. Visit her wonderful blog at: http://dearlittleredhouse.blogspot.com/ There you'll find a list of everyone's mosaics for this week.

I had forgotten about this mosaic I had done and never put on my blog so I'm doing it now. Brings back some fun memories of this summer as the days are short now and getting very cool. I love going to our fair. I mostly watch the 4-H horse shows but I always take one day to walk all around and see all the animal barns.
Posted by PicasaHave a wonderful Monday everyone. I'll be babysitting!

My First Show & Tell Friday

This will be my first "Show and Tell" but I hope to do this often on my blog. It seems something I can do quite easily . . . unlike cooking! : ))
Please visit Cindy and her new party at "The Romantic Home". http://romantichome.blogspot.com/ There you'll find a list of all the participants.

The very first of my show and tells is the one thing I love the most in my house and that is my goofy dog, "Rocky". He's an english pointer and I'm told, a wonderful hunter. (In fact he's going hunting for pheasant tomorrow morning with friends of my late husband.) Here he is thinking he has a chipmunk cornered. Of course he's wrong. The chipmunks always get away. They have LOTS of exits!!

I will have lots of things for this little party in the future, but I just had to "show" Rocky first!!

Thanksgiving & a Birthday

Celebrating Jack's 1st birthday with Ava doing most of the gift opening.

Fighting to hold his ground!! He likes the BOX!!

I haven't had much time to blog. I hate that!!! And I won't have much time till at least Saturday and then I should be cleaning this house!! Today I made the stuffing, sweet potato casserole and zucchini bread and went to my son's house for Thanksgiving dinner and my grandson's First birthday party. It was a little chaotic but the dinner was really good. Jack, my grandson, has a big sister not quite three who of course wanted to open all his gifts. But things went OK in spite of that.
Well, have to get to the barn early tomorrow as the farrier is coming. Hope to get to more blogging on the weekend! Hope you all had a wonderful day.

2nd Time Around Tuesday 11/24

Thank you Diane for hosting this fun party so we can show off and brag about our good and thrifty finds! Visit Diane's blog, "A Picture Is Worth 1000 Words" to get the list of everyone else that is participating this week at: http://diane1876.blogspot.com/

This week I just made one quick stop in our Goodwill store. I had to make it quick as it was getting late. Only got two things. (Well, 2 sets.) Now, I dropped off a lot more this week than I bought which is very, very good on my part : ))
These cute dishes caught my eye right away because I'm a sucker for the checker board edge! It's past their time for this year but I'll just put them away for next year. Hope I remember where I put them! That's always a challenge!! They are a Debbie Mumm design and were 80 cents each.

Love blue and white so these four check napkins at 50 cents each had to come home also!
That's my teensy find for this week but there's always next time!!
Have a great Tuesday and a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone.

Hidden Things In My Garden, looking again

Sunday Favorites is hosted by Chari at Happy To Design. VIsit her blog and look at all the favorites of the participants. http://happytodesign.blogspot.com/

I chose this for a re-do of my favorite things. I love my yard and gardens in the summertime. But you've got to look close or you may miss some things! This was for an Outdoor Wednesday in July 2009.

Thanks, Susan, for hosting Outdoor Wednesday. Be sure to stop over and see her at http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/ You've got to see everyone else's ideas too.

July 2009
If you REALLY look at your garden down close, you're liable to find some interesting things.
Here's an old birdhouse down in the weeds. Looks like a squirrel has been chewing himself into the front door.

Look at this beautiful little caterpillar. I was right down in the mulch with him to get this photo. I wonder what he'll turn in to.

Look close . . . a little lady bug. Remember that childhood poem.

Lady bug . . . lady bug
Fly away home.
Your house is on fire
And your children will burn.

Bummer!!!

There were a lot of kind of scary poems when we were kids!!

That's an old time rototiller under that ivy!

Oh, that's Trouble II. He's sure a chipmunk or squirrel is in there somewhere!!

Look here! It's an old bench that's slowly getting covered by the ivy that's back by my shed. I used to buy old benches when ever I found them. Who knows how many I've lost to the ivy!! Maybe I should start probing around.

Just thought I'd throw this in. I love this photo. Everything is so fresh and the air smells like the rain.
Please stop by as often as you can and let me know what you think. I love to here from you all.
Have a great Wednesday.

Thrifty Thursday 11/19

Thank you Leigh for hosting Thrifty Thursdays every week. Stop over at her site to see all the participant's great buys!! http://lbratina.blogspot.com/

I picked up this bowl right away and I really like it, and it was only $1.00, but . . . . .

It's pretty big. Bigger than a soup bowl; it's like a serving bowl. I guess I could serve oatmeal in it when my sister's here! It says "Good Morning" so you can't exactly use it for veggies at dinner!

Two nice Christmas tea cups for $.50 each.

More pieces of Currier & Ives for $1.00 each.

This cute little chicken! It was $1.00 and is by Debbie Mumm. Says it's a pin holder but since I don't really sew much, it will just have to sit on a shelf in my kitchen.

Thought I could put tooth picks in it but it isn't tall enough.

And another piece of stainless cookware. This is a nice size sauce pan by Oneida. ($4.00) I'm getting my stainless one piece at a time! It won't match but it's cheap!
Have a great Thursday everyone. I'm going to the barn : ))

Rockford's New Mosaic

Thank you Mary at Little Red House for hosting this fun Monday. Visit her and all the participants at: http://dearlittleredhouse.blogspot.com/

I've chosen to do another Rocky Mosaic because now I have bigger photos and his last one you couldn't see very well. This one has a couple of his real little puppy pictures in it. And I love him!
Hope you enjoy it.

A Little Rant!

No photos were able to be taken during this dilemma! (Thank goodness) I've been sending for little free samples of things every once in awhile, and I got one of shampoo and conditioner. Of course they send them in little foil packets, I'm sure because it's cheaper than little bottles and they can mail them easily. I sat my little foil packets in the shower to use the next time I washed my hair. Well tonight I took my shower and decided to try these out. The packets are together so now I'm in the shower with no glasses and really can't see which is which but decided that the shampoo is probably the one on the left, so I tore them apart and now had the shampoo foil packet. I couldn't see of course, but I could feel that it had a little score mark on it where you're supposed to tear to open. WELL > > > my hands are wet and try as hard as I could it would not tear open. Now I'm trying to tear it with my teeth. WHAT on earth are these made of????? It would not tear except into tiny pieces that ended up in my mouth. I was practically chewing this thing open! I refused to get out of the tub all dripping wet to go get scissors! Finally, I must have made headway as I tasted soap!!!!! So I squeezed the tiny bit of shampoo out and washed my hair. Now for the conditioner! It was the same story!! Now I know these have to go through the mail and have to be secure lest we have a postal emergency! but I think if they want you to buy their product, they should make it a little easier for you to sample it!! Every time I see this product I will think of this and be able to taste it!!!!!!!!!

Satire's Page

Satire was our first horse. We bought him about 6 years ago when he was 24 yrs. old. He was a fully equitated retired show arab and taught us everything! Since then I bought two other horses but Michele remains true to her arab, Satire. They are truly bonded.

She practices Parelli Natural Horsemanship with him and rides him now in only a rope halter and usually bareback.
He has the personality of the arabs that they tell about that used to live in their owner's tents in the desert. He is that gentle.
This is Satire's post.

Day Spent with the Horses

This is my favorite photo of the day. The horse is a full blooded Arabian and is 34 years old! His name is Rauls. William, his owner there, is 86! (By the way he has two other horses he rides too.) My daughter, the photographer, says I captured a great connection shot here.

This is Satire, our beloved senior arabian. He was a show horse in his day and now is one loved fella.

OK, this is Echo irritating Preacher. Echo is 5 yrs, almost 6, and Preacher is 15. Echo wants to play. He's pulling on his halter.

Now he's about to grab Captain's halter.

He's just sort of one of those irritating teenagers!!

No wonder he gets nipped so much!

The end! (I know . . . that's soooooo lame!!) Nice butt though : ))
Bye : ))

Outdoor Wednesday Nov. 11th

It's Outdoor Wednesday at Susan's of "A Southern Daydreamer". Take a look at her beautiful blog and get the list of participants. http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/

Here is one of the few apples left on my three apple trees. I don't spray so I don't get many good ones for me but the animals all like them!!

Well, look at that, it's a rooster weather vane on top my cupola!!!!!!

There's my boy Rocky. It's been perfect weather this week!

The back of my house in the fall.

This is the north end of the house. You can see the cornice returns at the roofline. (A characteristic element in Greek Revival type of architecture from 1830-1860.) Hmmmm, I wonder if there was a window under the top right one at some time. Inside, there's a large closet there.)

Well, the sun is setting way too early now that Daylight Savings Time is over. I hate that it gets dark so early! I wish they'd keep Daylight Savings Time all year.
Well, that's outside on my little acre.
Have a good Wednesday.

November Autumn Mosaic

Thank you Mary from Little Red House for hosting this fun party. I love making these mosaics now. Everyone go visit and see all the participant's "artwork".
This is my little November Fall Mosaic. Fall never stays around long enough here in northern Ohio, but this week we've had some great temps in the 60's. Can't ask for more than that in November!
Posted by PicasaHave a happy Monday.

Gratitude

I recently found a journal that I kept for awhile a few years back, before blogging! It's called "The Simple Abundance Journal of Gratitude". (by Sarah Ban Breathnach) I think there was a book that went with it too. I was reading it and decided that every once in awhile, I'll just put some little thing that makes me smile or I'm grateful for on a little sticky note. So when you see these stickies, that's what it is; my gratitude notes.

See, just a tinny post.
Have a great day too.

Pinks of the Week

Thank you Beverly for hosting this Pink Saturday every week. I never think I'll find anything else pink but I seem to! Go over to "How Sweet the Sound" and see all the participants for this week! http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/pink-saturday/

Here is an old foot stool with wonderful needle point on top . . . . however if you look at two of the corners you can see where some puppy of mine, (probably a lab!) has chewed! I had labs before Rocky the pointer and they'll eat your whole house until they're about two!! It was around then that I realized I either would have a perfect house or animals. And I chose animals, of course!

Here's the needle point up close.

These Knock-out rose bushes keep on spitting out these little roses! It's November in northern Ohio and getting quite cold!

Here is one pink Sunbonnet Sue on an old baby quilt I have on a quilt rack in my room.

And lastly, a pillow with little roses that I use for the bed when it's made.
That's all this week. Have a happy pink Saturday everyone.
