My Pink Saturday Finds, 10/17

Well, here I am again Beverly. I searched and searched and actually found a few more pink things in my house!! Be sure to visit: http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/pink-saturday/
There's a big list of all the participants there.

I love these delicate pink sherbets that belonged to my Mom. I have 6 of them. They're etched with a gold band near the top.

I have several of these single cup and saucer sets. I like the look when they are all different for tea.

Another one of my cup and saucer sets.

These dishes are from my complete set of Limoges that had belonged to my Great Grandmother.

This old wing back chair belonged to my parents. It's this awful salmon pink color that doesn't go with anything I have but it costs a fortune to have things reupholstered these days!! (Note to self; take that throw off the back, it makes it look even worse!!!!) Well, the cats LOVE to lay on the velvet!

An old rag ball. I have a basket full but this is the only pink one of the bunch.

I found this pretty vintage plate at a garage sale this summer.

A pretty little oval box I've had for quite awhile. I think I got it to display some Mary Kay products during that part of my life when I was a consultant!

The last of one a my favorites. The purple cone flower.

I love these soft pink flowers that are blooming now. I planted them about 4 years ago and can't remember the name of them. They grow on a sort of trailing vine. Any one know the name?
Have a great Pink Saturday everyone. Hope it's warmer where you are!!

Beautiful maple trees right over here on the golf course. They look like they're glowing.
Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Too Many Bees

What a couple of days!! Yesterday I came home from the barn to find 50-75 bees at my kitchen window INSIDE! I said a prayer and put my hands right on the top of the window and opened it. They seemed just interested in getting out. I ushered the stubborn ones out with a flyswatter. (Being careful not to make them mad!!) Yellow Jackets can sting you multiple times you know!!
More bees kept coming from somewhere to that window and I kept repeating the procedure. I had to see where they were coming from so I went outside and at the back of the house I could see them actively going in and out, right where the roof meets the siding. I put a call in to the Bee Guy straightaway!! (Bee Gon) He couldn't come till late this afternoon but told be to look around for any little holes or cracks around the area they were in the back but inside my kitchen. I found an area that the moulding along the ceiling was away from the wall so I followed his directions and taped it all up plus a few other places. Well, this morning, no bees and when I came home from shopping, only one lone bee and I think he was left over from yesterday. The Bee Man came and sprayed under the roof line and in the soffit outside. He said they would be dead in a couple hours but to keep the tape on for a couple weeks in case there were some HATCHLINGS!!!!!! OH CREEPY!
Now, right away today I wondered. "Why didn't I take pictures of all those bees for my blog!!!!!!! : )) Oh Well, I was busy.

Metamorphasis?

Thank you Susan for keeping us busy making things better!! Everyone please visit Susan's amazing blog at: http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ There will be a list of participants there with far more exciting things than this one of mine but still please take a peek here : ))

My little cellar-way kept getting worse and worse! I keep sticking things in there until it's hard to even get down the steps! So I took an hour or so and got rid of stuff and cleaned it up.

Well, I know, it's not much but hey, every little bit helps!!!
Now it's on to the cellar! YIKES! I'm doing that one for The Procrastinators Party and it has to be done by the 20th!!
Bye for now.

Food Mosaic

It's Mosaic Monday at The Little Red House: http://dearlittleredhouse.blogspot.com/
Thank you Mary, for hosting this party. I'm learning how to make all kinds of mosaics.

This week it's food! The reason I started taking pictures of food was to prove to my sister that I was actually cooking (once in awhile) and eating right! Then I discovered that I liked taking photos of food! I don't know why?? It holds still for you I guess! Please click on the mosaic to see it larger.
Well, it's dinnertime and this has made me hungry!!
Have a good Monday everyone.

A Pink Summer

Please visit Beverly's Pink Saturday Blog. There are a very large number of participants to this "pink party": http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/

This is my first Pink Saturday post so I am showing things from this summer. This will give me a real challenge with my photography each week, finding things that are pink since I'm not really a pink person! I can count about 6 things in my whole house that even approach being pink but we shall see.

Procrastinating! . . The Basement Clean-up

because I have been putting off cleaning this basement for, oh I'd say, a couple years at least. It just keeps getting more cluttered as I keep bringing more "stuff" down there that I don't know what to do with. I had to post the before pictures to join and I have till Oct. 20th to get this project done! I think a deadline will help me. : ))

OK, now don't get scared! My house is 152 years old so my basement is a cellar not a neat basement with walls of cement bricks. Under that waterproofing vinyl stuff on the walls are huge boulders holding my house up. I have french drains under my cement floor now so I no longer have water problems when it rains! (A real blessing!!) Yes, this is where I have to do laundry! If I ever moved, I'd wish for a first floor laundry room!
See that shelving over there? If I clear this all out, I could have a pantry down here! I already have a little refrigerator and extra freezer down here. There's actually another room down there too. It has the oil tank and boiler in it so I can't put much in there.
So, I have till the 20th of October when I have to show the after pictures or get drummed out of the Procrastinator's Party!! I have some serious throwing out to do!!
Good Luck to all the participants with all their projects.
