Last Pinks of Summer

The garden will be changing this next month.  Beautiful fall colors will be emerging.  But the pinks in the garden will become less and less till next year.
These are the colors of pink blooming like crazy right now in my gardens.

Japanese Anemone

One of the few pink flowers to bloom in the fall, the Japanese Anemone.

I planted three plants when I put in this garden, never thinking they would spread so much.  I have to keep the trailers cut back or it would take over!
I especially like it though because the flowers are delicate on thin stems and they blow nicely in the breeze.  Pretty foliage too.
I posted this especially for Pink Saturday because I have been slacking lately in the pink department!!

A Bouquet Before the Rain

I went out in the front garden yesterday and got this one bouquet picked before the rains started.
It hasn't stopped raining since and now it's turned cold.
This is still a summery looking bouquet for October 1st!

Outdoor Pinks

I'm linking up with pink Saturday this week.

I don't have much pink in my house so my pinks are always from my garden.
This is my most favorite flower. The purple cone flower or Echinacea.

Several of the Rose of Sharon bushes are in bloom now too.

Here's one white one; not as common as the pink and purple.
Have a great Saturday.
Stay cool.

First Pink Saturday in July

They start out blue but these wonderful hydrangeas soon turn pink!!

I know it has to do with the acidity of the soil but I'd rather think they were magic!

These are my astilbe that are in full bloom right now.

I have a lot of the old fashioned single hollyhocks.
They remind me of my grandmother's garden.

I didn't know till yesterday that hummingbirds liked them! I saw them going from flower to flower while I sat not 5 feet from them.

Yesterday I had a snack on my kitchen porch.

What could be better in the summer than S'mores . . .

. . . and tea!!

The Mums That Returned!

Mysterious Mums

Everyone's mums always come back year after year, getting larger and larger. Mine never do.

A couple years ago my brother-in-law, Bob, had an older plant that was so HUGE that a child could've fallen in it and never be seen again!! I buy new every year and they don't get any bigger.

EXCEPT for this one. It came back bigger and more beautiful than the year before when I planted it. Of course that was last year. It is no where to be found this year.

This is my granddaughter a year ago. It was a chilly fall day which made her bright pink hoodie really stand out! She was about knee deep in oak leaves.

September Pinks

Some September Pinks

It's hard to find too many pink things outside as Fall arrives. But I did manage to find a few.
For sure Sedum is in its glory right now.

And this bush that blooms all summer still has some pretty flowers on it.

This flower is on a plant that sends out sort of vines as it grows. I wish I could think of the name of it but I've forgotten. I love it's flowers that are blooming now. So delicate.

Autumn is in the air so I'm trying to take my tea on the kitchen porch as often as I can. See the shadows are starting to get long.

I hope we can enjoy a nice LONG Autumn.

Limited Pinks

Joining up with "Pink Saturday" over at Beverly's "How Sweet the Sound".

Just A Few

I had to go back into some of my iPhoto archives and find some pinks for this week!
This is Miss Ellie. She always has that scowl on her face!! She's laying on an old pink comforter up in my upstairs hallway.

"New Dawn" climber that I'm taking out this year. Even though it's a beautiful rose, it blooms once for a short time and then every year the leaves get eaten by something and it looks horrible the whole rest of the summer. So I'm going to dig it out and try something new. Maybe a Grandiflora that doesn't climb all over. This one actually attacked me as I was cutting it down I swear. I have the scars to prove it.

A beautiful old fashioned rose. I forget the name!

And my Cone Flowers are in bloom. One of my favorite flowers.
Happy Pink Saturday.

Pinks for Saturday 6-3

Blooms for Pink Saturday

My hollyhocks across the back of the garage are in full bloom!

All colors but here's some pretty pink ones.

Also my Cone flowers are just starting to bloom too!! See the tiny bee.

We are being inundated here with Japanese Beetles! Is anyone else having this problem! They are on everything!! YUK!
I made the mistake about 5-6 years ago getting the beetle traps. We filled 3 or 4 of them every single day. They we realized that we were attracting every Japanese Beetle from all our neighbors! So I'm hoping my neighbors get the traps this year!!! Not ME!!

Pinks of the Day 6-12

This week on "Pink Saturday"
I'm joining the gals at Beverly's blog "How Sweet The Sound" and showing off a few pink things.

Since I'm not doing anything with my china cabinet at the moment, I filled it back up with my great grandmother's Limoges. These are my "really special occasion" dishes! (Like Thanksgiving!) They are very fragile.

So dainty and pretty.

These next two photos are of dishes I use with the settings. They are very old too but not the same exact pattern. They all work together though.

I had to take one last photo of the foxglove. They are blooming their way to the top then they'll be done till next year. I let the seed heads remain and dry and they scatter the seeds around. That's how I'm getting more and more of them. I do wish they bloomed all summer though!

I forget the name of this flowering bush but its in full bloom right now.
Happy Pink Saturday Everyone.
