Before Pinterest

Why didn't I think of Pinterest!!!
I spent hours cutting out pictures and putting them in this notebook.
It is jam-packed full of favorite things.

Here are just a few of the pages.

I had cut out a lot of kitchen pictures before I had mine redone.  It's surprising the number of things that I did duplicate in mine.  This kitchen has the soapstone counters like mine.
The drawer handles, backboard beading, white cabinets and farm sink the same.

Here's a picture of my new kitchen shortly after it was done.
(Believe me it has not been this clutter free since then!!)

I do have a picnic basket and got some red and white fabric to line it with.  I think I've had one picnic in the yard with my grandkids.

These old floors are like mine.
And I do have a croquet set if I could only find it!!!
When I do, my sister is going to play croquet with me this summer!!  And that's that!!

Many pictures to inspire my gardens.

I love painted furniture.

When I redo my bathrooms, I want an old claw tub!!  Nice and deep.

One of my big loves . . . Windsor chairs of all types!!
I did find some and painted them black and they are in my dining room.

This is my dining room and the chairs I found.
Pretty close!

My Pinterest page is now filled with many things on many boards.
Makes things easy.
But there's something nice about having the tactile, real paper pictures of things.
I supposed it's like having a real book instead of the ones on a Kindle.
Did you used to do this or do you still?

Some Favorite Wall Pictures

I have some favorite wall pictures that I'll show here.  I have more but only a certain amount of wall space and I don't like walls covered with pictures so now and again I trade off.

This picture has two things I love.  The old chipped white door and the little wren.

This picture I got at a house sale right across the street.  We have a ton of these little red squirrels around here so here's to them!!

This picture I always liked because I think this is how I have pictured myself when I was young if I had lived in the country then!

This was a gift I gave to my husband when we had our first black lab.

And , of course this famous picture of the arabs called "The Pharaho's Horses"
An old picture like this in a round black frame hung over my grandmother's guest bed where we used to sleep when visiting her.

I recently found this old print of three hunting dogs in one of my closets.
I had forgotten I had it!
It, of course, includes an English Pointer!

This is a large picture.
It has been setting behind the couch in my little bedroom upstairs because I never found a place for it in this house!  I purchased it in Myrtle Beach over 16 years ago!  I loved "Gone With The Wind" so this was a painter's rendition of Tara!  I just had to get it.  It wasn't cheap plus I had to have it shipped home!
It's a shame I can't find a good wall for it.
I'd sell it on eBay but it would be too expensive to ship!
And I don't do Craig's List!

So what do you think?

Are You Getting The Right Kind Of Sleep??

Well, there's an app for that!!!
Of Course!

And I must say I'm REALLY impressed.
A lot of times, I feel as tired when I get up as when I went to bed.
The problem being . . . maybe I'm not getting enough REM sleep.
Also, if you wake up to an alarm, you don't want it going off when you are in a deep sleep.
That's when you will feel like a zombie!
But how does one know unless you go in for a whole sleep study!

Well, here is the way.
I downloaded the app yesterday to my iPhone.
It costs only 99 cents!

It's called "Sleep Cycle"
The graph of my sleep pattern last night looked pretty good.
This is me.

I love this techie stuff!
I can't wait to go to bed tonight to see my sleep pattern again.
It also wakes you when you are in a light sleep with wonderful soft sounds or music that you choose.

Take a look.
Here's how it works.

Another Time

I actually really enjoy hanging wash out to dry on my backyard clothes line.  My daughter says I'm trying to be like "Little House On The Prairie".
She may be right actually!
I have a fondness for those times and actually love the TV series "The Waltons" also.
Those programs are truly about family values and what people accomplished with very little money.  The importance of having to work for every penny and how those values were instilled in their children.
So different from today.
There's a whole lot of lessons to be learned from watching those programs.
"Little  House" is set in the 1870-1880s in Walnut Grove in Minnesota and "The Waltons" was set in the depression of 1930-1940s on Spencer's mountain in Virginia.
Family meant everything then.

My dryer has a problem sometimes and blows a circuit when run with anything else.  Maybe I just have a bad circuit breaker but until that is fixed I plan on hanging all my wash outside.  It actually dries faster outside than in the dryer!  And look at the electricity I'm saving!
Plus there's just something wonderful about doing it.
At least for me.

Croquet Anyone?

Isn't this cute!

I rediscovered this little mini croquet set that I had gotten years ago.
I loved it because it reminded me of when my best friend, Midge, and I used to play in her back yard. (It was her croquet set.)
We played quite a bit in our grade school and Jr Hi years.
This one stands about 8 inches high. It is complete with the mallets, the wickets, posts and the cute little balls

Now . . . .,I do have a real set that I got way before my husband died. However I could never find anyone who would play it with me. I have a good backyard for it too!
Where the set is at this exact moment, I don't know but I run across it every once in awhile; still new in the box!
Sue, next time you visit me in the summer, we are playing croquet!!!!
Be forewarned : ))
