Today I Vegetated!

My Day

Did you ever get out of bed in the morning and somehow knew that it wasn't going to be a very productive day? Well, that was today.
I'm just going to call it "The rest before the Christmas rush".
I did at least get dressed as I wouldn't have been warm enough in my nightgown and robe. It was only going to be me and my dog! So, no makeup, no bra, no shoes, and no eye ball! (One of my eyes is a prosthesis from a golfing accident if you didn't already know that.) (But that's a whole other story from a long time ago.)
I also did answer some emails and looked for Christmas things on line but didn't buy anything.
I did a lot of thinking about things I could do to be more organized but wasn't organized enough to implement anything.
I thought of maybe being able to put a small pantry in my cellar way if I can find shallow enough shelving. I hate to keep running down to the basement for things.

Oh, I did watch the news and 2 episodes of "The Dog Whisperer". I love Cesar and I think he has all the right answers about dogs. I need for Rocky to watch him too!!
Oh Heavens . . . Yes, I did do something constructive today. I washed my bedspread because I woke up to the sound of my cat throwing up on it!! Let me tell you there's nothing more disgusting than that first thing in the morning. And they seem to gag forever!!
Well, that was my day! I hope yours was "good" too : ))
AND tomorrow I babysit!!!!!!!

A New Pup

This is Belle

Remember William? He was the man who recently lost his white Arab horse, Rauls. What made that situation even worse was that he had had to have his dog put down about a month before that. William was so sad when Rauls died. But a couple days before Thanksgiving the Aussie Rescue called him that they had a couple dogs for him to look at. Williams favorite breed is the Australian Shepherd and he has gotten three of them through the rescue in the past 20 years.

This little girl is about 1 1/2 years old and is just slightly bigger than a miniature Aussie. She is potty and crate trained and William will take care of the other basic training. She is so sweet.
Imagine this; someone had tied her to the back of a horse trailer in the park and left her. The girl that was riding her horse in the park came back to find this little girl. So happens she is a vet tech and she also has 4 Aussies of her own! Maybe the previous owner knew that, we'll never know. She couldn't keep this little girl but made sure she got to the Aussie Rescue.

So now she is in the hands of a wonderful man and his wife who will care for her.
He always takes his dogs for walks in the park twice a day no matter what the weather and his other dogs have also been therapy dogs so we'll see what's in store for Belle. She one lucky little dog.
He brought her to the barn to show us today.

Rocky's Photo Shoot

Rocky's Photo Session.

My daughter Michele is a photographer. Her biggest love is to take photos of horses or pets. She has a special way with animals and these shots were taken in less than half an hour.
Anyone in the NE Ohio area that want wonderful and memorable photos should get in touch with her. Her website address link is at the bottom and is also on each photo.

Isn't he the most handsome dog you've ever seen : ))

Click here to go to her website and look around. She also does people, weddings and senior pictures. Take a look.

Thanksgiving and a Birthday

Thanksgiving 2010

This is the first Thanksgiving in my new dining room. I wanted to make it perfect. Of course it never is. The names on the leaves were a last minute thought. I was so busy trying to keep organized in the kitchen that I didn't get any pictures of the food on the table or the family around the table!!! Really dumb mistake.

Another mistake was that I set the food on the "buffet" table then served the soup. Of course by the time everyone was done with their soup, the food was only luke warm!
Also have to make a note to use smaller soup bowls next year!!

The one different placemat is because I had thought the children would sit at a little table but Ava wanted to sit with the big people and I only had 4 of the other place-mats!!!

Michele took these last two of the table.

Jack's 2nd Birthday

Opening presents.

The big dump truck.

No one had to tell him he could ride in it!!

Happy Birthday little Jack.

Improvising

The Problem

Here is what my computer has to sit on for the next few days!
You see, I haven't found a buffet I like for my dining room.
Well, actually I did find one on Craig's List but I didn't act quick enough!!
I need a buffet for Thanksgiving because my table is not that big.

So here it is; my computer desk pretending to be my buffet.
It'll work!

Note about Echo

A note to Echo lovers

His fetlock seems much better today. I went to the barn early. (That's 10am for me!) I walked him out to the arena and there was just a very very slight detectable limp. The swelling was mostly gone. I kept him in all day though and cold hosed it again. Tonight, no limp. (Yippee) The vet says he can go out to pasture tomorrow.
That is AFTER Michele gives them their wormer. (They're always thrilled with that!!)

Of course Echo likes to get all the sympathy he can so he sighs and lays his head on your shoulder!

Horse News

Echo Has a Boo Boo

Echo came up lame today. At first I thought, Oh no, another abscess and more soaking but when I examined his right back fetlock, it is swollen. I called the vet and she said to give him some Bute and cold hose it and see how it is in the morning. So that's what I did. I certainly hope it's nothing serious. The vet will come tomorrow if it hasn't improved at all. He probably sprained it out in the pasture yesterday . . . who knows with horses!!
So he is in his stall pouting.

Preacher is wanting to go out that gate and to the pasture.

And he's not very subtle about it!

November Babysitting Days

Inside Play

It was cold and wet outside so we had to be inside all day this Wednesday.
Here is Jack, almost two. He loves his tools! I think he's trying to take my birdhouse apart!

He looks very much like my son did at his age.
I'm going to try to video him talking because he is such a hoot.

Ava's vocabulary is very large too. She is like a talking machine. If she's not talking she is either watching "Go Diego Go" or asleep!

They are quite beautiful if I do say so! (Being the Nanna and all : ))

Thrifty Finds Nov.18

Hi All,
I'm joining Leigh from Tales from Bloggeritaville for "Thrifty Thursday".
I finally got some good things the other day at Goodwill and a discount store I frequent.

You can see everyone's bargains here:

My November Bargains

Here is the one I'm most excited about. Even though it's more than I usually spend, it was a real bargain.
This set of hand painted pottery was marked $30.00 but I had 20% off so it was $24.00.
It is place settings for six except for the four soup bowls.
I love the colors. So excellent for right now!!

See, Pier One! And I know what their dishes go for!!

The dinner plates and mugs are huge. Maybe I should use these for Thanksgiving instead of what I had planned!

OK, I found 4 more cereal bowls for my Currier & Ives set at 50 cents each.

I loved this sweater and it was half price so it was $2.00! HOWEVER . . . my doggy got it out of the box when I wasn't looking and, thinking it was a soft chewy toy, chewed 4 big holes in it!!
I may be able to sort of mend it but it will have to be a barn sweater now!!! DARN!!!!!!

I found these yellow place matts for 2 for 99 cents at my discount store and they match my kitchen curtains exactly!
(Oops, my knife is in the wrong place!!)

Isn't this cute. (Overpriced at $3.00), but I can just see it across the front of my new mantle!

And last but not least, a stocking for Rocky! (Even though he thought the sweater was his!!!)

Running in the Pasture

A Run in the Pasture!

It started as a nice quiet pasture day.
Michele, my daughter then arrived with her camera!
Michele is a professional photographer specializing in equine photography.
She said,
"Gosh, as long as you're here, lets run the horses around so I can get some action shots!"
That meant ME doing the running and her taking the photos!
The pasture is 5 acres!!!!

So, off I go with the long whip to make noise and get them going.
Echo is suspicious that something is up.

Off to the races! (Me and them!!)

Echo and Preacher
Echo was very fancy and animated yesterday but of course always doing the bucking and jumping out of camera range! Five acres is just a little too big to do this in!

They were much faster than me!

Back and forth. (5 acres!)

As soon as I'd stop, they'd stop because they would rather just graze!

Here's Echo with a little different look! Cool, hey?

Now Satire isn't allowed to run just yet so he just grazed while the others had to work.

Echo after the run.

Back to peaceful grazing.

Michele specializes in horses and pets but does other types of photography also like weddings, families and senior pictures.
Please visit her website to see her work.
The address is on all the photos.
Clicking here will take you to her site to look around.

I'll be linking up with A Southern Daydreamer for "Outdoor Wednesday".
