The Other Day

A couple days ago I just decided to stay home and fiddle around my house. It was too hot to do anything outside.
I'm showing you my dining room table like it is normally when I'm not doing a tablescape. I like the simple clean colonial look.

I had finished the last brownie a couple days before and I had a NEED for chocolate chip cookies! And quick!

This is what I use now most of the time if I just want a small batch.
They are the most like my homemade ones and I can have a cookie in about 20 minutes, warm!!!!

It makes about this many plus 4 that I had already eaten.

I finally hung my FR curtains! I got them at Target when my sister was here. I don't know why we didn't hang them then but now they're up and it softens the room a lot. I just wish I didn't have that brown leather furniture!! My inspiration room, when I picked this yellow color had all light or white slipcovered furniture and it looked so cool!
(Please try to ignore my TV stand! I am still waiting for the white media cabinet I want to get
RE-STOCKED at OVERSTOCK!)

Well, I know this was sort of a post about nothing but most days are like that you know!
And that's OK with me!

Yep, I Got One!!

I've wanted one for a long time but didn't think I cooked (or baked) enough to deserve something so magnificent!! Well, then I thought about it some more and decided my wonderful new kitchen deserved one!! It really didn't take that long for me to figure out a reason to
buy : ))

I bought it from Overstock.com and decided to get a refurbished one. I read a lot of people's comments about them and didn't hear anything bad.
So, along with free shipping, (yeah Overstock) and the price you can get a big one for refurbished, I SAVED a lot : ))

Excitement was in the air as a tussled with this big very heavy box.

Yes Sireeee, I got a bright red one. There was never a question on the color for me. I know, Martha has a white and a stainless one but I'm no Martha!
I got RED!!

My main reason for deciding to get this is that I want to make home made bread and my hands hurt too bad to be kneading dough for a straight 20 minutes. I got the powerful one because it's supposed to do a better job with bread.

See the dough hook : ))

This large red machine weighs a ton. I bet it's 30 lbs! So there's no putting it away and getting it out or even moving it from place to place easily. I had to pick it's permanent home.
No, not there.

It takes up to much space there and it can't replace my toaster! That's where I make my Eggos every morning!!

So this is where it will live. It's where I'm used to using my old one but this baby will be there permanently.
I'll take pictures of my first mixing experience and for sure my first homemade bread!
For today, I'm just looking at it.
I'm linking with some new parties this week:

Anti-procrastination!

I'm linking this little post with

This is what my little pet cemetery looked like a week ago. I promised to take care of this in my "I'm Being Invaded" post.
You could barely see the cross.

Today it was 87 but the humidity wasn't bad and there was a nice breeze so I went out and pulled and pulled weeds!

It's all shade there so I planted some little begonias and some impatiens.

Looks much better, now I've got to water them.

Problems?

Is anyone else having Blogger problems. I can't upload any photos. It says there's an internal error. Everything else working fine. This is maddening!!!

Never mind . . . I just asked Blogger and they are doing maintenance and the image uploader is temporarily unavailable. Well, at least I know it's not my computer! That's always comforting.

No Cooking for Awhile!

Houston, We Have (Had) a Problem!

Last Saturday, when I got up, my new refrigerator was making a loud humming noise. Never good!
I noticed my bottom freezer door was not closed tight. When I opened it and the upper drawer, all my frozen food was nearly all thawed out! I put some things in the refrigerator when I noticed it wasn't cooling either. Temps in both were 44 degrees!!
I tried to get some things into my little freezer down stairs but it was already packed.
I had to throw a lot away, gave some away and ate some for supper! You can only eat so much!
Of course it was the holiday weekend. Does anything happen on just an ordinary week day! Not to me!
I called the company service number and got on the schedule for Tuesday.
Long story short. I just did what I could and then went to the barn to see my horses!
When I got home, everything was working fine. I waited a day before canceling the repair that would have cost $79.95 just for coming into the house.
I think it was all from leaving the door ajar. (The refrigerator doors have an alarm if you leave them open but not the freezer drawers.) Who knows how long it was like that.
Anyway, I've decided I have to live off the things in my little freezer downstairs for awhile so if this ever happens again, I'll have somewhere to put things.
So that's why I won't be cooking for awhile.

No Foodie Fridays for a few weeks. But you can go see all the people that are making wonderful things for "Foodie Friday".

A Remake of Blue & White

Sort of the Same But Different!
Now I know my memory is going!! It wasn't till I was putting this post on here that I realized that I had done one so similar just last February. It is slightly different but the same dishes!
Oh well, I must really like it!!

I love my big soup tureen and I haven't actually used it as yet. I found it in a thrift shop and it has it's own ladle!

These napkin rings served very nicely as candle holders too!

I got these pretty place mats at the dollar store and the lace runner at GW!

Have a good night everyone.

I'm Being Invaded!

Yes, I'm being invaded by the flourishing plants and weeds from this wet, wet Spring. It was cold and rainy and I sure didn't feel like gardening. Then for 2-3 days it turned 90 degrees and humid. Didn't like that either.
See the ivy is trying to get in my bedroom!!

If I don't soon clean my garden path, I won't have one!!!

The garden in the middle of my front lawn is full of weeds and has an evergreen tree growing in it that I didn't plant! Those clever little squirrels! That could be next year's Christmas tree!!

My herb gard is overgrown. Yep, there's chives down there someplace : ))

This is a wild raspberry bush that grows everywhere and is so hard to clear out. It's very pretty right now but then it is just full of prickers and teensy berries!

I have to tend to this in the next few days! This is my pet's cemetery. I will fix it, I promise and post the pictures within the week. Really I will!
Being over-run!!!
