Happy Valentines Day and stuff like that.

I know, it's been awhile.  I have had some health issues that I won't bore you with.
Hopefully they are over with and I can resume a life!!!
The doggies, cats, chickens and horses are fine.
Dexter does not like the cold so he's wondering, like the rest of us, if it will ever get warm again!!

Monk likes the snow and likes to go out and lay in it but then comes in and does what he does best . . . sleep and snore.

Today I went out to give the chickens some treats.  (Greens, blueberries, corn and oatmeal topped with meal worms, their favorite!!)

Dottie, the black and white hen is moulting her tail feathers.  I thought they were supposed to do that in the fall!

While they were out in the run I changed their water and dumped their poop board, (which is the red toboggan under their roasting poles.)  Being a toboggan, it's very easy to slide it out and through the snow to the compost pile!

I then fill it with the PDZ which is actually for horse stalls but it does a great job of immediately drying the chicken poop so it can be easily scooped like cat litter and it is harmless to the chickens.  It also keeps it from ever smelling.  I also put some DE mixed in as they like to dust themselves in it when its new and clean.

Little Pepsi watched me the whole time hoping to get a chance to get into the coop but if she did, the chickens would just chase her out.  She's the non-aggressive of the two barn cats.

  1. Hope you are feeling better. There is a terrible cold going around that I just can't seem to shake, even went to the DR. All I do is cough.
The dogs look good and rested and your chickens are beautiful.
    Stay warm and safe.
