Ironstone Tablescape

I'm linking this week's tablescape with Susan at Between Naps On The Porch for "Tablescape Thursday". You can find all the other beautiful and creative tables here:

My White Ironstone

I couldn't wait to play with these dishes after I got them this last week! They are very colonial looking I think and I wanted to do a colonial looking table with the few pieces of pewter I have.

They go well with my old pieces of brown transfer.

I love this old coffee pot that was my Aunts.

A few pieces of pewter. I'm always on the lookout for them.

I think this brown transfer pitcher was my mother's.

A nice size platter that was in my Aunt's collection.

I used some of my old wooden bowls for the center of the table.

My favorite tiny wooden bowl; no bigger than a small saucer.

Aunt Addah's teapot.

I decided to plunk a snowman down on this table this afternoon since it is snowing like crazy outside!

Awwwww, he's melting : ))

This pewter bowl is filled with nutmeg, allspice berries and wild rose hips.

A view after dark with some candle light.

Have a great Thursday everyone.
I was snowed in today! The snow is supposed to stop this evening. I hope so.

  1. What a simply beautiful tablescape!

  2. The tablescape is lovely and so are the dishes-great combination~!

  3. I don't know where to begin, Shirley. It is absolutely fabulous, your accents are wonderful BUT I LOVE THAT TEAPOT! Your setting is inviting & elegant but comfortable.

    Have a beautiful eve ~

  4. You know how I love your dining room, but this set of dishes you got for such a rediculous price looks so good here. I love the melting snowman! I hope Rocky doesn't get him. I think I am going to have to make me one of those. I have seen some of the sweetest snowmen this winter, but not close enough to nab them here.
Hope you had a fun day while you were snowed in. We have drifitng snow, but it's not that bad. It was snowing again earlier, but it's light.
    Have a good night!

  5. Oh- come and see my dad's horse! I was sorting photos today and found the one of dad and Champ.

  6. Very pretty Shirley! The ironstone and pewter are beautiful together-enjoy!

  7. The colonial aesthetic is beautifully complimented by your brown transferware, the pewter, and the rich brown wood of your table. You've created a perfect vignette for your lovely dining room. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous design. Cherry Kay

  8. Oh Shirley -- I love your pewter and ironstone dishes -- yes, this looks very colonial. One of my favorite styles.

  9. Lovely setting Shirley! I loved your ironstone when you showed it the other day and it looks faboulous with your other service pieces. I really like how you paired this setting with the pewter too. It's perfect and looks very cozy and inviting!

  10. Those ARE great dishes, and the pewter and transferware are the perfect match ups!!! Your dining room is absolutely gorgeous. I love the colors and the wonderful wainscoting...just fabulous!!! Have a terrific week!!!

  11. Wow! That setting is fabulous Shirley! So warm and cosy, just the place to sit and share a meal with friends. Love the way the vintage transfer ware blends so well with your pewter and your new tableware. Your Aunts teapot is really beautiful - such wonderful treasures.

  12. A very pretty table and I like the mix of white ironstone with the brown and white and I love the fact that they are family pieces!

  13. What a fun table. I thought the snowman was made of bread

  14. What make and pattern are your white dishes? I really like them!

  15. What a lovely table, Shirley! I love your new dishes with the brown transferware. And that snowman, too cute. I hope all the snow we have melts! Your header mosaic is lovely too!

  16. Shirley-Everything in this room and on this table made me wish I could come for a visit! I love your aunt's china collection and I have been keeping eye out for an old wooden dough bowl for a while now. Love the Windsor chairs! Your "little bubble" is warm and inviting :)

  17. What a simple yet delightfully beautiful table.
Looks so warm and inviting. I love white dishes or just about anything white, so they look wonderful to me and go so nicely with your brown transferware pcs. So nice you have something from so many relatives to remember them by. Like the touch of the wooden bowls with it too. and the snowman plunked in the middle was great.
    Blessings, Nellie

  18. I'm clicking steadfastly through other tablescapes but almost missed this. I LOVE it. The first word that I thought when seeing the first picture was "colonial" even before you said it. It looks fantastic on that table, and using that runner was the perfect choice. I loved the pewter. I'm so fond of pewter and trying to get more of it myself.

And your melting snowman centerpiece is adorable.

  19. Beautiful tablescape, Shirley! Love your ironstone, your transferware and your centerpiece.
    Blessings, Beth

  20. I just love this table setting, Shirley. So perfect with the subtle shades of your dining room. Your photography is getting really good as well. Congrats!
