I Used To Paint

. . . . . . Pictures, Not Walls

Someone asked to see some of my paintings after I showed one a couple weeks ago for Sunday Favorites. The one I showed was this first little one of our Abyssinian cat we had a long time ago. I painted when my kids were small till they were teens. I don't paint any more. I don't know why I gave it up.

The name "Zezulak" on the painting was my name then; my first husband's and my kid's last name.
I always painted wildlife and always (well almost always), painted small. This rabbit pictures is about 5X7 and was larger than I normally would paint!

This little wood duckling is painted on stone and is one of my favorites.

I really don't have any of my paintings left. I either sold them or gave them away. I think my daughter has a couple.

  2. You need to get some new brushes and start up again. It's time. You have too much talent not to use it. Besides, Rocky needs his portrait done.
A friend of mine got be started again last year after not picking up a brush in over 10 years...and I paint better now than I ever did. Painting calms the soul and you need something to give your grandchildren so they will know where their talent came from.

  3. They are wonderful! I paint too. Like you, it is few and far between. I seem to gravitate more towards smaller painted scenes now as opposed to larger ones, also. I think it has more to do with my patience, though. Your paintings are exceptional! You really should give it a try again. Maybe of your horses?

  4. Shirley, you certainly have a wonderful talent. I concur totally with the comments left already, you really should pick up the brushes again and start to paint...don't you think Satire would make the perfect model?

  8. You are very talented, Shirley. I understand laying painting aside. I did that, too. Now, I paint ocasionaly - it is a great stress relief for me. I go to another wonderful world when I paint. I now paint in watercolors. It is easier to pick up and put down. Blessings to you and yours.

    Shalom,
    Gail
