Bath Day For Dogs

It was a good day to stay inside and a good day for the dog's baths!
(Not their idea of fun!!)
This was my first time bathing Spirit and I was hoping maybe she'd be one of the few pointers that actually like water!
Nope!
The biggest problem is getting them into the tub.
Lifting them is hard on my back so I use a lifter that I had gotten for Monk and I can get them in.
You can see by the look on her face she isn't really enjoying the process!

She said' "I think I smelled just fine before this bath!!"

After she was all dried off I got Dexter and lifted him into the tub.
Not without him objecting of course.
But we got through it and here is Spirit checking on just what was going on in there!!

Are you the same dog??

All dry, clean, soft and smelling so good.

Spirit fast asleep with mommy.

I can't imagine life without dogs!

  2. Lots of work, but the dogs must feel better all clean and smelling good! Quite a project, though.

  3. Shirley your dogs are so sweet. I bath all mne and they are the same. Mine all stand on three legs with one paw lifted up as to say I'm not really in all this water. Your bathroom floor looks the same as mine covered in towels to dry them and they still shake all over me.

  5. I've never had a dog that didn't mind a bath. Something else kids and dogs have in common! :-)

It's the first time I've visited your blog. Your dogs are gorgeous.
Our two are due for a wash this morning, but they don't know it yet! We have a walk in shower, with glass walls, so it's much easy to wash them, (and the shower afterwards!) and no lifting. Our girl Labrador doesn't like the water much (unusual, I know) and the Retriever has to be carried to the bathroom, then spends his time trying to escape. Our bathroom floor will look like your in a couple of hours time!

Your dogs are beautiful, and in the photo after their bath they look so pleased with themselves! Our dogs are due for a bath later this morning, but they don't know it yet! We have a walk-in shower with tiled walls, which makes washing (and cleaning up afterwards!) so much easier, and no lifting. Our girl Lab. isn't fond of the water, (unusual I know) but our Retriever has to carried into the shower and spends the rest of his time trying to escape. Our bathroom floor will look like yours in a couple of hours!

  8. So sweet. I can tell Spirit isn't enjoying her bath but she certainly looks relaxed after. I love dogs too although we don't have any now. We have 3 grand dogs that we get to care for now and then. One of them used to live with us for 10 years and he hated baths. He'd wine and cry and shake the whole time. When he was bathed, he'd take off on a tear. He's 14 now and gets bathed at the vet's and loves it. Go figure.
