I'm posting my Before and Afters on "Show and Tell Fridays" at My Romantic Home. Hope you will visit there too:
The Deck and the Dining Chairs
The Deck
It was getting pretty bad. I think it's only been two years since it was washed and sealed last. Being under the trees, it does tend to build up the moss and mold. Also being so near the ground doesn't help!
I found an ad in the phone book for an Amish man who refinishes decks so I called. He came with a helper who wasn't amish so they came by car, not horse and buggy. They power washed the deck about 7:30 AM yesterday and then waited till it dried and went to get the semi-transparent paint I had picked out. They had it all done before 3PM.
It looks nice and clean and bright now. Sort of matches my shed in the back.
I'm hoping it lasts for at least 3 years.
The Dining Chairs
Remember these? I got them about a year ago in preparation for my new dining room.
Then I found this beauty last winter in my favorite thrift shop.
This is how my dining room looked while my kitchen was being redone. (Before they started on the dining room.)
The painting process. I LOVE Krylon Fusion Satin Black!!!!!
It gives a beautiful finish without having to sand!!!
Here's a sneak peek of how my chairs go in the dining room. I'm still not done so I'm not doing the "big reveal" yet!!
Have a great Friday everyone.
Shirley
I hope your deck lasts 3 years. We did ours and with the Michigan winters, we had to re-do it the next spring....A lot of work! Your chairs turned out very nice - they look so nice and smooth! Great job!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have rough winters here but our deck stain still didn't last very well. I was quite disappointed.
ReplyDeleteI think the black paint makes those chair look fabulous and they are spreading it around the room. Can't wait to see it all.
those chairs look GREAT!
ReplyDeleteThe chairs are wonderful. Very similar to mine. Your deck looks great, too!
ReplyDeleteLovely!!! I am preparing to paint a hutch my neighbors were discarding. I have never used the Krylon Fusion you mention. Do you recommend it for a piece of furniture such as a hutch?
ReplyDeleteYour pieces look terrific!
Your deck looks brand new now. They did an awesome job. I love the black finish on your chairs. Doesn't look like spray paint, but a rubbed black finish. Just beautiful. I love the wood paneling in your dining room and the color up top.
ReplyDeleteI love the deck, I've been toying with the idea of painting my kitchen floor, can he come to Nebraska and do mine? Looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteVery nice job on the chairs, deck, everything! Susan
ReplyDeletejob well done on the chairs and deck! now all just perfect for summer!
ReplyDeleteYour deck looks wonderful!! The transformation on the dining chairs is awesome!! I keep forgetting how good things look painted black. In my head I see black as that horrible stuff they use on cheap furniture , I think it was in the 70's. Your chairs are awesome!
ReplyDeleteHow nice and fresh! I love that black, iron firplace screen in the dining room. So pretty anywhere you might put it.
ReplyDeleteLovely, so far! And thanks for turning me onto the Krylon Fusion paint. I have a few items that need a makeover desperately.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
I have almost identical chairs that were hand me downs from a relative and I have always felt like they didn't look right with my table. I have been searching for affordable chairs for several years, but you have inspired me to paint them with the black Krylon Fusion paint because your chairs look really good. So does the deck. Looking forward to the big reveal.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful!

ReplyDeleteYour chairs look beautiful! I have been wanting to paint mine too. :o) It is like playing jump rope with our weather though, it may end up being a fall project.
ReplyDeleteYour deck looks fantastic!!
