Vintage Sheep Picture

I'm linking this post with Colorado Lady for "Vintage Thingie Thursday"

I've always been attracted to pictures of sheep. I don't know if it's the country feeling about them or the peacefulness that pastoral scenes seem to bring.
This old picture I got a long time ago. I'm not sure if it was at an auction or an estate sale. I don't remember having it in my antique shop so it must have been since then.
It's a print dated 1901 but any signature of the artist is covered up with the matt.

It's quite detailed when you see it.
And it has a barn, chickens, sheep and a dog! What's not to love.

I've never taken it apart because I'm afraid the paper is too fragile. As you can see the back is made with wide planks.

There's Mama and her little lambs.

I guess that could be an Australian shepherd keeping watch.

The frame is old and chipped but still usable. I'm just deciding where I should hang it. It's been shoved back in the closet too long.

  9. My son just bought a print of this exact picture in Corona, CA. His looks like it has been slightly cropped. If you ever find out more about it, we would love to read more info about its origins. You made our day.

  10. The artists name is printed in the top horizonal piece of wood on the barn door. We have yet to figure out the name on my son's print...
