Remember This Kitchen!

I'm joining Chari at "Happy To Design" for her Sunday Favorites. See all the participants at her blog.

I am posting this from back in August so you will remember how my kitchen looks. Because, the day has finally come!! The renovation starts MONDAY!!!!!! This kitchen will be gutted. Don't worry, I'm going to take pictures of the whole thing!!

It's Metamorphosis Monday. Thank you Susan for hosting this terrific event. Somewhere to show people ideas who might just understand! So everyone go to BNOTP to see the participants. Just click this:

See this kitchen? It's not mine!! This is sort of the idea I have for mine. Below this picture are photos of my kitchen now. Don't get scared, it's not a pretty site.

I hope there's a metamorphasis coming here! I have been pretty careful not to show any photos of my kitchen. It is not good. It doesn't go with my 1850 house at all. I have had a contractor out that I want to use and I've had the first meeting with the kitchen designer. I just want the kitchen to look like it goes in my century farm house! I have lots of expensive ideas so I hope I can pull this off. Everything needs changed from floor to ceiling; from cabinets to lighting. Oh My. Gives me palpitations just thinking of it.

My lovely refrigerator loaded inside and out!! And that's the door to my little kitchen porch.

This is the island with a little sink and my dishwasher. You can also see part of the half wall that looks into the family room.
Now, that's all you get to see of the old kitchen. I don't know when (or if) this will all get started but The kitchen designer has some great ideas so we'll see. (If I don't chicken out!)
If I go ahead with this renovation, I will take lots of photos! I want to be one of the ones with the sledge hammer like on HGTV!!

  1. I don't think your kitchen is all that bad, but your inspiration photo sure is beautiful! Hope the rennovation goes well and you come up with what you are hoping for!

  2. I agree with podso, I don't think it is that bad, but I know you, who live there all the time, do. Be sure and take lots of pictures. It took 3 months to redo ours in 2001 and I promised never to do that to admit it but I'm ready to do it again.

  3. Woohoo Shirley! I am so excited for you! I remember this original post. I know you have been waiting awhile to get your kitchen remodeled. I can't wait to see the finished kitchen!!

  4. Hi Shirley...

I remember this is the kitchen planning coming along? Have you decided to go through with the rennovations? exciting but I certainly can understand the reservations as well! My little kitchen is in desperate need of updating...and I have been dreaming! Hehe! I just love your inspiration of the things that I like best about that kitchen is the full wall of windows above the counters! The windows make it so light and offer such an "open" feeling as well! I would love that!!! Well my friend, I am so anxious for you...and excited! I hope that your dream kitchen soon becomes a reality for you!!!

Thank you so much for joining in with Sunday Favorites this week!

    Warmest winter wishes,
    Chari @Happy To Design

  5. I don't think your kitchen looks bad at all. In fact I think it looks pretty darned good. However I look forward to seeing it become something new that I know you will love.

  6. Awww Shirley...your old kitchen isn't so bad. And it's so clean! But I know how you feel when the kitchen clashes with the age of the house. One of these days if I can find the time, I plan to do a Metamorphisis Monday of our kitchen redo in our circa 1724 house. My hubby did every lick of it himself, and I think we ended up with something that does the age of the place justice while bringing it into the 21st century.
Good luck with your redo. I'll be eagerly awaiting your pics!

  7. I'm so exited, I know, I know, hee hee. The new kitchen is coming the new kitchen is coming. Eeeek. Are you excited cause I know I'm excited. Oh boy Shirley this is going to be great.

  8. I think your original kitchen is great! It looks nice and big. Hope all goes well through all the changes that you want to make.
