A Very Stressful Couple Days

Satire and Michele

Satire is in an Equine Specialty Hospital recovering from major abdominal surgery last night about 4 AM. He had coliced a couple days before then yesterday it got extremely bad. It was the third time the vet was out but this time was different. He was in extreme pain. We got a hauler and had him taken to the hospital. We got there about 1:30 AM I think (it's all a blur) and he was in surgery by 4 AM. He had a twisted large intestine. He is 31 years old. (That's over 100 years in people time!) He came through the surgery extremely well. The twist had damaged some blood vessels but had not compromised the intestine yet. So the next 48 hours are critical to his recovery. (Because of clots) After the surgery his chances were 50/50. They say after 48 hours and he is doing well, that his chances will get much better.
So I'm asking all of you out there to please offer up a prayer for Satire's complete recovery. He is a very special horse and owns my daughter's heart.

  1. Shirley, sorry about your daughter's horse, I hope he has a speedy recovery! He looks like you have taken very good care of him, never would have guessed him for 31. . .Suzie
