Goodwill and Thrift Shops, Oh My

Today I'm posting my finds of last week from GW and the Hospice Thrift Shop. Rhoda hosts this party every Monday so we can all see everyones good buys! Go visit her at: http://southernhospitalityblog.com/ and see a list of all the participants.

Since I started to blog and started these trips to Goodwill and the Thrift Shops I added up that I am spending $20-40/week there!!!! This is not good . . . not good!!! I'm spending the extra money I make on eBay and saving coupons buying "stuff". (Even though it's a whole lot of fun!) I don't REALLY need it! (Darn, this is like a confession!) AND I'm running out of space to put the "stuff"!! That's a big problem.

However, that said, here was a good buy for $5.00. A 13 piece set of rooster plates and cups by Onieda called Calico Rooster.

I got this fine cord shirt for $2.00, the tin tub for $.50 and two white iron plate racks for $2.50 for both.

Some more things I got at the thrift shop and Goodwill. Candle $1.00, scary pumpkin $1.00, cutting board $2.00 and rooster hook, $2.00. (Don't know where to hang the rooster hook but it seemed like a good idea at the time.)

Here's a better look at the primitive looking pumpkin.

I found this beauty at the Hospice Thrift Shop in town. It was half price day there on the last Thursday of the month. This was marked $35. so I got is for $17.50. I think it was a real bargain as it still had a tag on it from a crafter in KY that said $55.00. It's made from an old window and is very heavy. I thought of 3 places right away of where I could hang it but when I tried it in those places it just didn't look right. Hmmmmmmm

See, it's painted with a mustard color and distressed. Love it!

Well, for right now it's going to live here in front of the fireplace. That will be OK till winter when I want to burn some wood! Anyway the babies will like to look at themselves in it tomorrow. Now, see, here's the problem. I don't have a place for my big framed horse picture and fire screen I had there. Right now it's sitting in my bathroom!!!!! Not a good place. I'll have to think about this some more. I'm supposed to be SIMPLIFYING!!!!!
Have a good Monday everyone.

  1. You made it sound like you were going to burn it when the time comes. Lol.
I have seen those around here through the years and they are really great for decorating. So many options. I always like that color too.

  8. Great finds! Wow, I guess I could have done a three for instead of a two for post by adding Today's Thrifty Treasures. Love that mirror shelf and rooster dish set.

    Thanks for sharing!
